Learning & Teaching

Key Stage Three-Year 8 -10

Pupils at Key stage 3 are provided with a broad and balanced curriculum that allows them to study a wide range of subjects. Teachers engage pupils in creative and enjoyable learning experiences and have high expectations for all pupils. There are four assessment points throughout the academic year which enables pupils and teachers to reflect on progress and set targets for improvement.

Planned and meaningful homework is a very important element in the education of all our pupils and can help develop a varied range of skills including extended writing and research. All pupils will be expected to complete a set amount of homework each night. Study/Revision Clubs are provided at lunch time and after school at important times during the year when pupils are preparing for public examinations.

The range of courses which we offer reflect the knowledge and skills which are required by a young adult preparing for GCSE, Sixth Form education and the world of work. We endeavour to continually review our KS4 curriculum choices in order to reflect the aspirations and interests of our students. This means that the subject list may evolve each year. Different pathways are available for students through Key Stage 4.
